Create Pages and Navigation in Square Online

Pages are an essential part of your website. They display your content, and give your navigation menu a sense of purpose. This article explains how to create and manage your pages, and edit your website's navigation menu in the Square Online site editor.

Create or Copy a Page

In the Square Online site editor, select +Add > Page. You can also select the Page dropdown menu and use the Add page button there.

Next, choose the type of page you'd like to add:

If you want to add a category or item page, you can add an item or category to your online store first right in the editor. A page for the newly added item or category with then become an option in the editor. Learn more about adding an item and category to Square Online in the site editor. Once you've chosen a page, enter a name for the page to display on your navigation. You can uncheck Add page to navigation if you don't want the page to be accessible from your site's navigation menu (i.e. the page can only be accessed if you share the link directly to that page). Select Add to finish.

To copy an existing page, open the page list and locate the page you want to make a copy of. Select the "..." button next to the page name, and select Duplicate page.

Note: Some page types (e.g. item pages, category pages) cannot be copied.

Add Content and Edit Page Settings

After saving your new page, you can add content with sections.

To change the settings for a page, select the gear icon in the editing panel and select View page settings. The page settings popup window has three tabs:

General: Change the page name and URL, or set up URL redirects and password protection.
SEO: Add a title and description for search engines, and preview how your site will appear in search engine results (e.g. Google). You can also hide the page from search engines if you don't want it to be indexed.
Social: Preview and edit the title, description, and image used for your website on social media. Learn more about Square Online social media links.

Add and Edit Navigation Links

As you add pages to your site, you'll have the option to add links to those pages on your website's navigation menu. Learn more about how to add a link to your site for more information on adding links to your navigation menu.

You can also create anchor links in your navigation menu, which are links to a specific part of a page. For example, let's say you've placed a contact form near the bottom of your homepage. You can add a link to the navigation that will jump right to the contact form section on the homepage.

Note: Editing or removing links from the navigation menu will not change or delete the associated page or section.

Rearrange Pages and Create Subpages

To rearrange pages you've added to your navigation and create subpages, go to your Square Online site editor and select the Header section on your site. Then select Navigation > Navigation links in the editing panel.

Select a page in the navigation links list and drag it up or down to move it to a new position in your navigation menu. To turn a page into a subpage, select the page and drag it underneath and to the right of the parent page.

You can add a new page as a subpage. While editing the navigation menu, mouse over any page and select the "+" button. Choose to create a new page and enter a name. After saving, the new page will automatically be a subpage of the parent page.

Delete Pages

To delete a page from your website, open the page list in your Square Online site editor and hover over the page you want to delete. Then select the "..." button, select Delete page, and select the button to confirm it's okay to delete the page.

Note: Deleted content oftentimes cannot be recovered, so feel absolutely confident that you no longer need that page.
